Brisbane Metro Tender

Utilities Design and Management

Acciona

FJA led the utilities works for this successful tender that is now continuing into the design phase.

We worked closely with the design and construction team to develop a winning design in 12D. We challenged the reference design to provide a simpler solution that allowed construction works to be unimpeded by utilities. All works were modelled in 12D to a high level of detail for a tender design. FJA presented the project to all collaboration meetings with Brisbane City Council.

M12 Motorway Central Package

Detailed Design

GHD & TfNSW

FJA are the leading utility design and co-ordination for this landmark new motorway project to service the new Western Sydney Airport. The project builds upon our longstanding partnership with GHD and allows us to bring forward a number of BIM initiatives that we have been testing.

Utilities Design and Management

Acciona

FJA worked to co-ordinate and manage all utilities for the tender design phase. Our collaborative approach allowed us to work closely with the construction consortium to workshop innovative ideas and proposals.

We utilitised the FJA string naming convention to produce concise utility treatment advice and detailed 3D models of tender data.

Richmond Road Upgrade Detailed Design

Utilities Design & Management and Level 3 ASP Works

Jacobs & TfNSW

FJA are working with Jacobs and TfNSW to deliver utility co-ordination and electrical design for this road upgrade project. We are using the FJA BIM and utility management system to manage the 1.6km upgrade project.

FJA were selected to undertake the Level 3 ASP design. As well as experience of ASP works, we are also able to model the electrical components to the required level of development for the project.

Parramatta Light Rail Enabling Works

Detailed Design and Construction Services

Ward Civil and Dionna - TfNSW

FJA worked with the contractor to innovate the designs provided by the client and increase the constructability of the project. We worked during the site works to make amendments to designs as required. This allowed works to continue and when issues arose, we attended shutdowns to ensure works could be problem solved as they happened.

Level 3 ASP Electrical Design

WINIM

FJA are providing electrical design for these beautiful townhouse projects.

We assessed the use of batteries and solar systems to increase sustainability and reduce the demands on the electrical networks.

FJA worked with the contractor to innovate the designs provided by the client and increase the constructability of the project. We worked during the site works to make amendments to designs as required. This allowed works to continue and when issues arose, we attended shutdowns to ensure works could be problem solved as they happened.

To effectively manage the project, FJA led a team of over 30 utility specialists to deliver water, sewer and electrical designs and co-ordination of telecommunications and designs. FJA introduced a range of project controls to ensure timely project delivery, providing the client with weekly performance and progress reporting, facilitating construction planning and resourcing.

The three dimensional utility services model developed for the project is one of the most complex 12D models ever produced in Australia. FJA worked with the client to produce systems for data acquisition and data management to provide continuous updates to the Australian subsurface utility standards.

Continuing from the design phase, FJA worked closely with Acciona on the construction phase services portion of the contract. FJA responded quickly to RFI's, designing innovative solutions to problems encountered onsite. FJA provided resources to work around the clock to ensure the success of essential workers undertaken during the shut down of utilities.

Concept Design

GHD

FJA were engaged to lead the utilities design and work closely with TfNSW to create a new 12D utility survey standard. We produced 12D models and sketches of proposed relocations and output utility spaceproofing to a web-based model for utility co-ordination. This meant that constraints were identified early in the design and progressed with authorities.

Further to our work in 12D, we also developed a full BIM model to LOD 300 for stage 2 of the project. This included detailed 3D modelling of thrust blocks, electrical pillars, kiosks, light columns and conduit / pipework. The utility model data is collected into our utility registers, which allow estimation of project costs.
